A parking lot at Westfield Montgomery mall in Bethesda is currently transformed into the prehistoric era with life-sized, animatronic dinosaurs and light art. Local leaders joined an opening ceremony Monday for the Dino Safari Festival.
The festival is everyday until Sunday, Aug. 4 — hours are 5:30-9:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 5-10 p.m. Friday to Sunday.
Dino Safari features more than 70 life-sized animated dinosaurs and ice age animal light sculptures, according to a release. The festival has attractions like a dino bounce castle, t-rex thrill experience and dino speedway, as well as educational experiences like a safari dig and dino fossil hunt.
Tickets range from $16-$20 per person and can be purchased onsite or online. Admission is free for kids ages three and under. The festival is hosted by LuminoCity.
Some proceeds from the festival will go to Interfaith Works.
